149th Rifle Br began in the allotments, on the western outskirts of SPARTAKOVKA , saddling the left flank of the bend of the highway from the STZ settlement to the north.
282nd NKVD Rifle Reg. began in the forested area /esp./the forest west of SPARTAKOVKA /, the bend of highway, Hill 135.4.
During the day the army continued to conduct defensive combat. In the central sector of the front the enemy, beginning at dawn, conducted mortar fire on the fighting formations of our units, in the North sector the front went over to the defensive, and in the southern sector of the front the enemy, with a force of a division of infantry with 80-100 tanks, after taking BASSARGINO junction at 16.00, attempted to continue their success in the Northern direction.
The aviation of enemy, beginning at dawn, with groups of 3-10 aircraft continuously in the air, bombed the areas of VOROPONOVO and SADOVAYA in first half of day and the areas of VOROPONOVO and TALOVOY in the second.

26th Tank Br was removed from the composition of the Corps and was concentrated in the forest West of KRASNIY OKTYABR.
23rd Tank Corps defended the boundary at the Northern spurs of b.GRYAZNAYA, and southern of hill. 143.5. The offensive of 27th Tank Br. on OPYTNAYA STANTSIYA did not enjoy success. The brigade returned to the previously occupied boundary.
During the day, 189th Tank Brigade, with the motorized rifle regiment from SAR region, hill 143.3 conducted an offensive in the direction of the SovKhoz TRACTORIZATSIYA, junction KONNAYA, where a knot of enemy opposition was established. The Kolkhozes NOVAYA NADEZHDA and SHISHLYANKIN are covered by the forces of a reinforced rifle company.
87th Rifle Div; because of the absence of the communications between Divisional HQ and its regiments, data about changes of position, was not presented by divisional HQ.
35th Gd. Rifle Div. defended the previously occupied boundary.
101st Gds. Rifle reg. - on defensive perimeter 'K' 3km. 169th Tank Br retired from subordination to 35th Gds. Rifle Div. and was concentrated in the region of Hill 81.0, Hill 125.0, dairy farm West of ALEKSEYEVKA/.
196th Rifle Div with 398th AT regiment defended the boundary on the E. bank of ROSSOSHKA, esp. at khutor VLASOVKA, NOVOALEKSEYEVKA
33rd Gds Rifle Div with 1105th Artillery reg /3 guns/, two batteries of 651st AT Reg., defended the boundary of esp. NOVOALEKSEYEVSKIY, SINEOKOVSKIY.
20th Mot. Rifle Br. went to the boundary NOVIY ROGACHIK, BERESLAVSKIY, and during the day conducted intense battle with the advancing enemy. In the region BASSARGINO up till 16.00 the occupied boundary was maintained, communications ceasing after that time.
131st Rifle Div with 169th Tank Br conducted heavy fighting with motorised infantry and tanks of the enemy, which attacked from the junction BASSARGINO. The position of the division at the end of the day is not established as a result of the absence of the communication between Divisional HQ and its regiments.
