There can be little doubt that the Battle of Stalingrad was one of the most significant events in modern history.
It marked the turning point of the tide of Nazi expansion in World War 2. It was the scene of a clash of wills between two of the biggest tyrants history has known. It was to be the death of hundreds of thousands of combatants and civilians. It was where the pride of the Nazi war machine met its end in the smoking ruins of a city that had been a showpiece of Soviet modernisation and industry.
The battle of Stalingrad represents carnage, desperation and heroism in equal measure.
There have been many studies of the battle published. The battle is unique however, in that still more information regarding aspects of it is becoming available even today. This presents the historian with the opportunity to explore further and means that the 'final word' on this important battle has yet to be had.
The purpose of this website is to make available, to historians and the interested public, material relating to the battle, much of which has never been made widely available before.
It is the intention of the author that only corroborated documents and authentic photographs relating to the battle be published.
